Seducing the Myth: Myths and Legends with an Erotic Twist
Lucy Felthouse the editor of this incredible collection is a wild sex pixie that delivers tales of erotic delight that are sure to make you tingle with the magic they deliver.
Seducing the Myth will seduce your mind with the hot tales of love and lust contained within its mesmerizing pages.
I’m still not sure where I stand on the anthology debate, they are certainly value for money and can introduce you to new authors you might not have found otherwise (as was the case here) but they can also be a real grab bag quality wise and you can go from the sublime to the ridiculous thankfully that’s not a problem here as all the stories contained within Seducing the Myth were of a really high standard and spread out over a good variety of myths and legends.
Some of the Myths and Legends contained within I’d previously never come across and so once my interest had be piqued they required further investigation, it’s always nice when a book takes you on more than just one journey. So I really enjoyed that extra aspect of reading this Anthology. I learnt along
Djinn and Tonic by Lexie Bay had the majesty and magic I was expecting although the characters were a little rougher around the edges than some of the other stories but it still delivered a hefty punch in the lust stakes with some very hot action that I’m sure has left a lasting impression.
Andi in Chains by Fulani was a tale of bondage and kink and certainly hit the mark with its very unique take on the meeting of Perseus and Andromeda. Full of fire and passion that is sure to get your imagination sparking and ready for the rest of this erotic ensemble.
In the Springtime by Elizabeth Thorne was a tale that left me somewhat confused and I never really felt the connection with Persephone and Hades. It was interesting to see Persephone given more of a voice than she traditionally is and I shall never look at a pomegranate the same but I just didn’t get the emotion from this that other stories in this collection provided.
Logan’s Treasure by Lisa Fox is a study in captivation, when something holds your gaze longer than it should it seems to work itself inside your mind, the eyes are a gateway to the soul and Lisa Fox does an excellent job of making that transition in this tale of lustful longing and passionate desire that will surely captivate.
Down By The Pool by Lucy Felthouse was another of my faves, I love Lucy’s informal style of writing and the way she puts such heart and soul into her characters and this story is no different with its delightful take on the tale of the mermaids pool between Buxton and Leek, given an erotic twist and some witty charm it’s an enjoyable read full of fantasy.
Golden Apples by Rachel Randall is a fascinating take on the tale of Atalanta and Melanion bring it right up to date at a charity fun run, the new setting gives the story a faster, racier edge and makes for a fun read that’ll teach you a thing or two about winning (and losing!)
The True Folly of Icarus by Saskia Walker made me smile, I liked the idea that Icarus may well have been distracted on his legendary flight. The pacey, informal style made it a light enjoyable read I raced through and
thoroughly enjoyed.
Blooming April’s Flower by Jillian Murphy is a tale which really embraces it’s Myth, based on the tale of Flora this story gives depth, heat and passion to the circle of life in a most enchanting way, it’s a charming story.
The story that I’ve actually talked the most about with others was Q is for… by Caz Jones a short sharp tale with a most interesting premise that needs to be read to be believed. This was my introduction to Caz Jones amd I look forward to finding more.
Saving Orpheus by Indigo Skye was another unexpected surprise with an “after the event” story from the tale of Orpheus, again it’s nice to see these well-known characters in a new light and the fact that the story comes across as believable really does show the talent of the author in conveying emotion and express in such a short story I look forward to checking out more by Indigo in the future.
Lilith: In Her Garden by Louisa Bacio is an interesting look at the tale of Lilth the “original woman” who was cast from the Garden for not submitting to Adam and quickly replaced with Eve. She has become a figure synonymous with seduction and lust. The voice Louisa gives to Lilith in this short tale is powerful and compelling and damn hot, this is a tale that grabs hold and doesn’t let go and buzzes round your mind for days afterwards, an excellent read!
Iseult on her Wedding Day by Justine Elyot is a tale of twisted torment, a love affair made eternal and the struggles of such, the flowing descriptions and passionate imagery really give this tale a dark depth that has you yearning along with the characters, the passion they feel and the way Justine conveys that makes for a deeply rewarding read.
The Dark Night Rusalka by Rebecca Bond a traditional tale given an erotic twist, and Rebecca inserted that twist perfectly this is a hot tale with more than one surprise, it caught me off guard but delightfully so and I was better for the experience.
The Lady of the Flowers by Shan Ellis a tale of revenge and most definitely not a happily ever after read. It’s brutal and pulls no punches but conveys a lustful intensity with its sassy heroine that it was an excellent read that made me delve deeper into the legend of Blodeuwedd (pronounced Blow-dew-eth in case you wondered, I know I did).
In A Dry and Dusty Land by Lydia Nyx definitely takes things to a dark plane with its exploration of the ghosts of those violently killed, not your traditional romance faire by any stretch of the imagination but Lydia does an outstanding job crafting something you can believe in and feel for from the darkness.
Maiden’s Grail by Bronwyn Green is an erotic Arthurian legend and is a well written tale but I felt it was missing something, it seemed to jump a little too much so although the narrative was good I couldn’t settle into my rhythm and truly enjoy the story which was a shame as I think with some adjustments I’d have really fallen for this one as I’m a fan of this period in history.
God of Pleasure by J. C. Martin is a tale which features Dionysus who many would probably think of as a balding fatty with a constant hangover but J C Martin paints a much different picture for her hero and creates a most erotic tale for this God of excess.
Mushroom Hunting with Eros by Kay Dee Royal is a tale involving a couple and cupid, you know it’s going to be lust filled and delightful not just because of the characters but because Kay Dee Royal has a real talent for conveying a scene and filled it full of emotion you cannot help but be touched by this story.
Valkyrie’s Queen by Toni Sands was a sensory tale that really did make me stop and think. It was so vivid and mesmerizing it’s still hard to put that in words, it’s a story that really needs to be experienced you need to let it flood you with its descriptions, captivate you with its passion, this is the one I think most lived up to the anthology title and seduced me with its Myth.
