Undercover Lovers
I must say I wasn’t quite sure what I was expecting when I entered the competition to win this book but it certainly wasn’t this.
An anthology review is always slightly more challenging, it’s always difficult to know which format you should use, here I’m going to take each story on it’s own merit and give my views on each, and then give a summary of how it works as a whole.
Undercover Lovers contains the following tasty morsels that are sure to please…
- Consumed by Dee Carney
- Conned by Chloe Cole
- Conquered by Cari Quinn
- Convicted by Dee Tenorio
Consumed by Dee Carney
The style of this tale is truly scrumptuous, This tale of romance between critic and chef is a delightful case of opposites attracting, the characters are well defined and full of life, the settings realistic and believable you can almost taste the passion as they fall hopelessly for one another, it almost makes you want to click your fingers and order another bottle of wine. It’s so easy to just let yourself go with this one, the plot flows nicely and you really feel a part of all the scrummy action, this was one story that left me salivating and craving more.
Conned by Chloe Cole
When your life is spent hiding, you can lose who you really are. Chloe explores this fantastically in Conned, following the couples journey right from initial meeting to gradual romance you really get a very astute insight into the minds of the characters as they both come to understand one another, this really gives the tale added depth and kept me avidly reading looking for the next revelation. Chloe deserves a lot of credit as The plot is simple, yet perfect and the heat is astounding, this one really does sizzle. Definitely one to keep you warm all weekend long.
Conquered by Cari Quinn
I often find myself lost in wild green eyes so can certainly understand the allure and Cari does a wonderful job of selling those lustful emotions to us. Things move at a brisk pace but it works really well for the story being told, the attraction these two share shines through and the heat in this one is sure to please, as well as tease but what I particularly enjoyed about this one is Cari brought some of the real life humour to events that can sometimes be lacking when we get into the realms of erotica. It had me chuckling quite loudly at times which I always think is a plus point.
Convicted by Dee Tenorio
The writing style of this one was a little different to the rest and it took me a little time to get into it, but once I did I was pleased I kept going as Dee has an excellent way of building up her characters and situations. It’s always nice to get a heroine with a bit of backbone and Katrina certainly has lots of it! I love it when tables gets turned and expectations are shifted, it’s always nice to see an author thinking a little outside the box with their plots. The passion in this tale was also intense as both characters give as good as they get and really you can ask for no more than that. Oh and the Epilogue was a nice touch.
