Irreconcilable Differences by Kiki Howell

Magic and tension blossom and explode when Aaron, a raw and untrained Sorcerer is hired to protect the Wizard Myleana as she tries to open a mystical and very stubborn box.

Aaron and Myleana both feel an attraction to each other that they try hard to deny as sorcerers and wizards aren’t meant to mix and definitely aren’t meant to have sex. Kiki Howell builds up the tension brilliantly between the two characters in fact, I got to a point where I just wanted to yell ‘oh, just give in and do it would you!’ at my screen.

The sex is scorching hot though I would have liked to see it introduced a little earlier as the build-up was brilliant but started to get a little repetitive as it drew towards the first sex scene that featured interaction between the main characters.

I did like the magical elements and think that the characters were developed really well. I would have liked more information about the world and setting that Myleana and Aaron existed in though as I found myself getting confused a time or two because I was expecting ye olde worlde settings and then cars and zips and jeans would be mentioned and I’d get confused and pulled out of the story a bit. A little more description in the beginning of the setting would have cleared that up for me I think.

There were a few typing errors to be found within the pages and the plot was somewhat predictable but I found the characters kept me interested until the end. I really wanted to know if they’d ever work out they were both completely in love with each other even though they couldn’t stop arguing.

In conclusion Irreconcilable Differences is filled with interesting and well described characters, the erotic tension builds beautifully and the sex scenes are smoking hot.

The Point by Victoria Blisse

It seems we are in the second golden age of the Vampire with every other book having that extra Bit of Bite, Victoria Blisse’s first book in her Point Vamp series is another blood soaked delight.

With a hot lusty mix of wild vamps, and an interesting premise The Point has you hooked from the start, Hugh the vampire has made a pact that he is no longer going to be a killer, he has started a club called “The Point” with an array of women he takes just enough blood from, enabling him to curb his desires though not satisfy them, Hugh is unprepared for the damage one woman can wreak on his life.

The action is hot, heavy and relentless and the leading lady Elizabeth has such vitality. Although she considers herself fat and unattractive and upon meeting Hugh she considers him a psycho killer and she is not far wrong. Will she ever be able to accept Hugh for what he really is?

As the sparks start to fly we discover Elizabeth is far more than she ever thought she was, as things really do heat up between the two of them we explore all the backs and forths of this very complex union between mortal and acursed soul handled in a most beautiful and understanding way giving the book real dimension and depth that is sometimes lacking in Erotica were the focus can be too sex heavy. The Point is not just a vampire story. It’s a story of lust and love. And anyone will tell you, that mix is just irresistible.

I’m really looking forward to reading Book Two.
