Keeping Pace by Dee Carney
With the evocative tag of “One spark could burn her world down.” I was really looking forward to reading this one. Dee Carney writes amazing character based tales full of romance and passion that are both believable and enjoyable. The characters here aren’t perfect, they are real and that’s what will keep you reading.
The story of Regina and Josh is also hot, to the point of scorching and I love that about Dee, she brings the heat along with the heart and in Keeping Pace the mixture is just right making for a delicious read. Keeping and Conveying the chemistry between the two especially when you consider the differences and the back story is a feat of writing prowess and I give a lot of extra credit for that alone, it would have been so easy to fall into cliche and lose the reader but things are kept fresh and entertaining throughout and I loved that.
Wonderfully Written and Ultimately Satisfying this is one to curl up with!
Ruby Red Metallic by Casey Sheridan
I always enjoy it when an Author writes with a heartfelt passion and that really comes through in this fast paced short story, the love of the subject matter really shines through with detailed descriptions and dialogue that is sure to get you drooling if you share a passion for those sleek curvy cars.
The Plot is an interesting one, what does happen when you see the enemy in a new light? When they are no longer the faceless big bad but an equal force who inspires and intrigues and Casey Sheridan does an excellent job of exploring this dynamic to full effect, with the twists and turns giving the story a dimension and depth I feared might be lacking from the initial blurb.
If I have one negative it’s that the ride was over too quickly, I really loved the idea of a female car theif it’s not often used and works to really good effect here. Alaina will steal your heart as well as your car and I felt we still had a lot to learn about her, hopefully we will see her return in a future story.
Hearts & Diamonds by Nichelle Gregory
When I was given Hearts & Diamonds to review it was with the information that it was a “Suspenseful Erotic Romance packed full of heat” and so that certainly perked up my interest, I’ve always loved those stories involving the rough and ready agent who finds another side to themselves.
The chemistry between Nia and Quin makes for some fantastic scenes of discovery and delight. Hearts & Diamonds is full of believable characters, and with a gripping plot moving the action along at a brisk pace this was a most enjoyable read! Being the romantic I am I focused on the Love story and longed for the next heated exchange but the suspense side of the coin is just as compelling and compliments things nicely in it’s own right, the twists might be predictable if you’ve watched a few heist movies but the overall story is well written so it can certainly be forgiven that and it doesn’t detract from the action in the slightest.
This is certainly an action packed story and things move at some pace but it is a consistent one and you never feel the story is running away from you, The sex is red hot and we get a very generous serving and the mix of conflict, suspense, humour, emotion and romance is finely balanced and makes for a real treat of a book.
Definitely one for the must read list!
